Innovative Ways to Drink Water | A Distinctive World

Filtered Tap on the Go, French Press Style

half_teaspoon2

We’re seeing a huge influx of filtered tap water designs and they all do the same thing; use some sort of carbon material to filer contaminants and that nasty metallic taste. A few stand out like the 321 Water. It’s like any other bottle, holding more than the recommended daily amount of fresh water but instead waiting for your bottle to fill up via a drip system, is goes all French press style on us.

Pretty simple to use, fill the BPA free bottle with tap water, insert the filtration press and slowly push down. I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work but there are a few quirks. The filtering mechanism seems quite large, in fact it seems to occupy a lot of volume inside the bottle. As “fun” as it might be to press my own water, I’d have to refill it constantly. The other tidbit are filter replacements. How cost effective is this, say compared to a filtration system that fits over your faucet?

And if you’re frugal, there is one way to kill contaminants and get rid of that nasty tap taste; boil the water and let it cool in the fridge - that’s the old school way.

Aluminum Water Bottles

SIGG USA brings quality Swiss design to reusable aluminum water bottles. Their website says “not everyone is ready to buy a hybrid vehicle,” but every baby step towards a cleaner Earth is worth it.  Americans add over 30 million plastic water bottles to our nation’s landfills every day. Why not drink from something stylish and eco-friendly?

There are dozens of designs to choose from. They come in large and small, flasks for big kids and sippy cups for little kids. They sell scrub brushes and extra caps. And you have the option of customizing your cap too. Unlike plastic water bottles, there is no plastic taste or chemical leaching if the bottle is left in the sun. Honestly, these bottles are so cool I want to go and buy a truckload. Why not get one for yourself or a friend? It’s a practical - and stylish - way to save the planet.

Eau Couture

Every year French water company Evian launches special edition bottles, and this year’s are quite opulent. The limited edition bottles were designed by high end fashion design house, Christian Lacroix, and feature two versions.

The “prêt-à-porter” bottle features a clear, classicly shaped European water bottle decorated with a detailed, highly sophisticated white pattern. The “haute-couture” version, on the other hand, doesn’t feature any printed art. Instead, it feature intricacies in the actual bottle design, the final product resembling an elaborate ice sculpture. Only 99 couture bottles were made and will be auctioned off for charity.

Ultra Luxurious H20

14111_1_468cI am not sure about the water, but the bottle is a masterpiece. Fillico Beverly Hills is a super glamorous bottled water brand from Osaka, Japan that costs $100/bottle. They are made of frosted glass with gold paint and Swarovski crystal accents and decorations.

And for about double the price you can add gold wings and/or a gold or silver crown to the bottle (shown is a set of “King and Queen”).  Despite the misleading Beverly hills brand name, the water is from a spring in Kobe, not LA.

Intelligent Water Bottle

Your Hydration Coach!

2778_1_468c The intelligent bottle, namely HydraCoach, is a revolutionary new water bottle that calculates an individual’s daily hydration needs and coaches proper water consumption to ensure optimal hydration. This is the first product developed that actually helps people adhere to the expert’s recommendations for drinking the right amount of water on a daily basis. HydraCoach calculates personal hydration needs, tracks every sip taken, monitors daily progress and motivates individuals to achieve and maintain proper hydration

“Known as the world’s first interactive water bottle, the HydraCoach may appear similar to other water bottles, but there is one noticeable difference - the Hydration Monitor. This patented technology enables users to program in their personal hydration needs, track their daily water consumption sip by sip, and be coached throughout the day to achieve optimal hydration. Proper hydration is critical to the health and well being of all people, regardless of age, gender or fitness level. However, most individuals find it difficult to simply remember to drink fluids on a regular basis, especially during exercise, let alone calculate and track their daily intake.”
